I'm searching for a more visceral link between myself and our collective prosthesis - the tools that shroud the frail body in unrivaled ability. These augmentations confer a certain power. The capacity to reveal or obscure, to change scales, mediate complexity, or to collapse space. These drawings embody this collective anatomy of machine and bone. They belong equally to the human and the apparatus, but are foreign to both. I'm searching for a way to draw, outward and inward.
Within the discrete act of making one drawing, a second drawing is discarded; it's the shadow, the negative. It's the drawing that exists in the z axis, just above the page as the pen is lifted and moved into position for the next mark.
I have created a tool to draw completely. Both drawings are made.
A linkage of parallelograms allows the two pens to follow the same movements. A pivot at the front allows for the two pens to alternate making contact with the paper.
The subject of the drawings iterate on a theme: a hand conforming to the shape of an object. The object's only depiction is the displacement rendered upon the hand.

TRI is an abstract strategy game wherein two players compete to control two of three key territories. Players must carefully place and move pieces or rotate parts of the board to gain control of territory, accelerate their piece expansion, or capture their opponent’s pieces. TRI combines the gradual coercion of Chess and the elegant surround-to-capture rules of Go with a visually compelling and strategically interesting board composed of triangular spaces atop mutable diamond-shaped pieces.
